Adult Social Group Classes

Adult Social Dancing group classes are held on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 10pm upstairs in the main ballroom at the Italo-Australian Club, 78 Franklin Street, Forrest.

Beginners Class

The Beginners Class is from 7pm to 8pm and caters for the absolute beginner student.  In this class, students are introduced to the following dances: Slow Rhythm, Waltz, Quickstep, Cha Cha Cha, Jive and Samba.

The emphasis for the Beginner Class is simplicity - don't worry if you have two left feet!  We aim to give students the ability to dance well socially.  If you have danced before or are finding the Beginner Class not challenging enough, why not stay on for the Intermediate Class - there is no additional cost.

Intermediate Class

The Intermediate Class is held from 8pm to 9pm and introduces some simple variations of the dances taught in the Beginner Class as well as introducing the Rumba and some New Vogue dances. 

Advanced Class

The Advanced Class is held from 9pm to 10pm (for advanced students only) and covers all the Ballroom, Latin American and New Vogue dances.  The class has no fixed programme and covers dances and variations dependent on the level of students attending the class.  The class is held only if advance student are in attendance.

Cost & Enrolment 

The cost per lesson in 2010 is $17 per night per person or you may purchase a "Card" valid for 12 months for any 8 Adult Group Classes (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday) for $120 ($15 per class).  The "Card" must be produced each time you attend a class.  A refund is not given for any unused lessons or lost cards.

You may join a class at any time during the year.  However, if you join a class that you cannot cope with, we will refund your money if you let us know within the first 15 minutes of the lesson.

Bookings are not required.  Simply turn up at the venue 10 minutes before the class commences for enrolment.  You need not have a partner to attend group classes.

The partner you dance with at a Group Class is entirely up to you. We do not rotate partners.

Beginners may stay for the Intermediate Class, if they can cope.  The Advanced Class is restricted to advance students and is held only if advanced students are in attendance.  The fee per night covers all three classes (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced).
